From Virgil’s Book 1, page 251: Barnabas served in the War of 1812. He was a fisherman and longshoreman, and was elected a tithingman on Oct. 1, 1819. The house belonged to Huntleys until the 1950s, and served as the Hamburg Post Office. (pictured below)

Virgil receives awards for his genealogical research

After 50 years of work traveling, researching, compiling, and publishing genealogy for the Huntley and other clans, Virgil is honored for his commitment and dedication!

Marilyn Guiliani, Representative of the 23rd District of the General Assembly of the State of Connecticut, awards Virgil with proclamations from the Jodi M. Rell, Governor, and the General Assembly.

Timothy Griswold, First Selectman, awards Virgil a proclamation from the town of Old Lyme. “I love the award...but did you know we're related?”

Thanks for the memories!
At 8 years old, I met Virgil in 1952,
At Windsor’s HNA, I met Huntley Pease too,
We had a talent night that was a delight
It went late into the night!
How lovely it was!

Thanks for the memories!
At Plymouth I saw the rock,
At Cooperstown we gave the baseball a sock,
In Norwich we slept at a B&B
With blueberry pancakes for you and me!
How lovely it was!

Thanks for the memories!
When Jim played the piano,
And all of us joined in to sing,
The songs of days gone by,
And to praise our Huntley kin!
How lovely it was!

Thanks for the memories!
At Hyde Park we saw Roosevelt’s home,
Then in Palmyra you visited my home,
And after we skipped one year,
We came to Guilford in 1961.
How lovely it was!

Thanks for the memories!
At Hudson Falls in 1970,
We honored Gertrude Huntley, an aunt of mine,
Gertrude, Royce, Jim and Virgil Huntley,
Are names that are HNA in my mind!
How lovely it was!

Now all these years have gone by,
And we honor Virgil at 90 years,
I remember all who are gone and I cry my tears,
Julia, Gertrude, Laura, and Molley too,
Through Charlotte I bring greetings to you!
How honored I am!
